NAFLD fibrosis score is validatednon-invasivetool for identifying patients whose NAFLD has advancedto liverfibrosis. NAFLD score is based on several laboratory teststhathelp to estimate the amount of scarring in the liver.
NAFLD Fibrosis score is calculated with thefollowingparmeters:
Weight: Weight of the person in “Kgs”. Weight (along with Height)isused for calculating BMI.
Height: Height of the person in “Cms”.
IGF/Diabetes: Refers to the existence of impaired fastingglucose.Select “Yes” if the patient is diabetic. Otherwiseselect”No”.
Platelets: Platelet levels predict nonalcoholic fatty liverdiseaseand a decreased peripheral count is associated withliverfibrosis.
AST/SGOT: The Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST), also known asserumglutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT) level in the blood.Thisis released when liver or heart tissue is damaged.
ALT/SGPT: The Alanine Aminotransferase (AST), also known asserumglutamic-pyruvic transaminase (SGPT) level in the blood.Thisenzyme is also released when liver or heart tissueisdamaged.
Albumin: Albumin level to be entered in g/dL. Albumin is aproteinproduced in Liver, with normal levels between 3.4 g/dL and5.4g/dL.
